Get out and go...

Somewhere, not too far outside of Portland, Oregon I fell in love with the state. On one side, the highway wound around small mountains and rolling hills, the other side the rushing water of the picturesque Columbia River and then the railroad filled the spaces in between. To be back on this adventure is just a small wish that I have right now.

Last month we didn't really go anywhere but we were able to get out. The YMCA that we are members of offers a Kid's Night Out program. Our boys love going there and hanging out. They get pizza, make a craft, play in the gym and watch a movie. So, the boys went twice last month and we were able to have two pretty fun date nights. One night out to a movie and the next night we had dinner and watched a movie at home, to be in our house for a few hours without our kids was awesome.

For as long as I can remember, I have had this idea that I would live in one house for most of my life. I am not a fan of moving and I love having a place that is as familiar as the back of my hand. I think this idea feeds my want and need for travel. As long as I have a home base to return to, I am willing to go to any where in the world. Our home is where our stories are written and told. I love being in our home, working on it, collecting things to make it our own, and enjoying our time at home.

That is why a date night at home without our kids was awesome. Sometimes, you don't need to get out and go, you just need some time at home to dream up your next wishes.

Dreaming of summer...

I can't wait for the days to be long again. I can't wait for the endless hours spent outside. I can't wait to put our coats away for awhile, to not have to find the matching gloves, to not insist on wearing a hat, to not have to convince a little one that sandels are not really warm enough and to not have to wear three layers to go outside.
I am ready for green grass, blue skies with whispy white clouds, bumble bees humming in the garden, birds chirping and golden hours.
So happy that it is March and warmer days are on their way because this is what it looks like today!
